I love blogging. I love reading other established blogs by people around the world who have similar likes. I believe the best thing about blogging is that you are able to have self-expression by allowing the average person to become self-published without having to be a professional writer of some sort. Unlike news papers, the readers are able to provide instant feedback by adding comments instead of rather sending back a letter to the newspaper agency with your thoughts and probably not receiving anything back. At least, in blogs you are able to carry a conversation with the blogger and other readers who are commenting as well.
Then I believe there is a bad side to blogging, thousands of people have ventured into the world of blogging and it may seem like a competition. So how are you able to stand out and have a successful blog? I think it is really tough. As stated in Blogging 2.0, a blog must be able to stand out. Using pictures and color is important but what is most important, in my opinion, would be the passion that is voiced in your writing. If a reader can sense the passion in your posts, I think it will make it that much more worthwhile to read.
I believe that blogs have a value to the criminal justice field. When a trending headline hits the airwaves about a crime incident and the whole world is talking about it, it is guaranteed that people will want to voice their opinions and what better way is there than blogging and posting comments. For example, many stories have come out about police brutality and in this era, you are quickly accessible to the video being posted because of video camera phones so you can witness these events firsthand (thanks to YouTube). People will want to voice their outrage and most likely they will do this online through blogs and readings that allow you to comment.
